FAQ
What about...?
A hackathon is an event where builders collaborate over a short period to build hardware and software projects from scratch. It is a space for learning, testing new technologies, and meeting other developers.
Any high school student (grades 9-12) can participate! Since we are high school only, it provides a safe, level playing field for younger builders.
Nothing! Registration, food, snacks, and hoodies are 100% free, fully funded by our sponsors.
Bring your laptop, charger, a student ID (or proof of high school enrollment), and a signed parental consent waiver.
No. You can work Solo or in teams of up to 3 people. We will host a team-forming session at the beginning of the event if you want to find teammates.
Anything hardware or software! You can build a web app, robot, game, telemetry dashboard, or any engineering prototype you want.
Prizes are evaluated by our guest judges during a science-fair style exhibition. Categories are split across our three primary event tracks.
Yes! We will have experienced industry mentors from Intel, Microsoft, and other sponsors walking around in-person to help answer questions and debug code.
No. Because UnlockedHacks is a localized, student-run regional sprint, we do not have the budget to offer travel or flight reimbursements.
